The third online album, and the first recorded in true stereo, November 2007 - May 2008. Ten tracks make up this new sampler, including the glorious October 20, and the ambitious 14-minute setpiece, The 4th Noodle. Also includes Hammers from the GRAND noodler album, just because. Previously appeared here online only as noodl3r and melancholia, no longer available. |

September - October, 2007 Unfortunate that I never realized these recordings were not in true stereo until too late. So much good music on this album, eight tracks as different as the New Agey latenite, the hoppin' hammers, and the neoClassic October 2 and October 3. All recorded on the newly-arrived Knabe baby grand!

May - July, 2007 What an idiot. I hadn't played a note in some 12 or more years, then had the overwhelming urge to finally get something recorded. I did everything right, ripping off a dozen tracks (plus several bonus tracks), without ever realizing that I was recording in "stereo mix." All of this wonderful improvisation can never be redone, unfortunately, so it is what it is. And much of it is amazing, especially to me. |

Noodling: Mindless, seemingly random picking away at the keys. Akin to doodling for artists, noodling wanders around the keys looking for a hook. To be clear: when I sit down to play, there is no sheet music, no preconceived lines; what comes out comes out. While purely improvisational in nature, the music is shaped to resemble a "finished" work. You'll understand, I hope, when I get lost in the music and find myself restarting... If the music, at first, sounds like classical piano, that's my training. As a Gemini myself, I enjoy the duality of the piano and forte, classical and rock/jazz rhythms, slow and fast. And as a classically trained musician, I marvelled at those who can take a note or two and fill an entire evening, and aspired to gain this ability. |
