Took delivery of my new 50d Monday night, May 18, 2009. Having become firm friends with the Rebel XT, I find myself having to re-learn camera controls and menus. Not a problem, because I can't put this camera down!

Here are several side-by-side shots, with the Rebel XT and EOS 50d. Each image links to a larger version in a separate window. (Photos were taken with my Canon S3 IS, by the way.)

That large 3" display is bright and clear, and very nice to have. But it's impossible to keep it from getting smeared with nose grease...

I decided a couple of months ago that the Rebel XT was getting a bit long in the tooth, and it was time to consider an upgrade. I could have gone with a newer model of the Rebel series, but I was itching to move up a level. Then I made a mistake and picked up a 50d at the local Best Buy, just to see how it felt. It felt won-der-ful. The larger size fit my larger hands as if the camera were sculpted with me in mind. Yes, it is a tad heavier, but not noticeably.

More, much more to come, but this is all very new to me. Meanwhile, here is one example for those with broadband connections. Click the image below for a straight-from-the-camera image. Full size is 4752x3168 and weighs in at 4.65 megabytes! I would post a RAW file, but that would be 15MB and I don't have anything worthy yet.
